On the obverse of the coin at the top there is a small State Emblem of Ukraine, in a circle against the background of a stylized ornament - the inscription: NATIONAL BANK OF UKRAINE (above), FIVE CHRYVENIA (below), between them - the year of minting of the coin 2008 (right), Mint logo of the National Bank of Ukraine ( left). In the center of the coin in a circle formed of stylized rays, there is a cross and inscriptions in a semicircle: Orthodoxy (above), FROM KIEV IN ALL RUSSIA (below).

On the reverse of the coin is depicted a multi-figured composition of baptism, under which is placed the inscription 988 / YEAR, at the top in a semicircle the inscription - BAPTISM OF KIEV RUSSIA.
