The obverse of the coin shows a composition - a circle divided into four parts by a wind rose, each of which symbolizes classes of mammals, birds, fish, amphibians, which are represented in the zoo; at the top is the small State Emblem of Ukraine and the inscriptions NATIONAL BANK OF UKRAINE are placed (on the left in a semicircle), at the bottom - 2 / GRIVNA 2008 and the logo of the Mint of the National Bank of Ukraine.

On the reverse of the coin there is a stylized inscription ZOO, on which is depicted a giraffe and the inscription 100 / year, at the bottom - KIEV ZOO.
