On the obverse of the coin at the top there is a small State Emblem of Ukraine, in a circle of inscriptions: NATIONAL BANK OF UKRAINE (above), FIVE GRIVEN (below), to the right - the Mint logo of the National Bank of Ukraine; in the center - the image of the Transfiguration Cathedral, Sumy gazebo, sabers and powder flasks, ears, on the right - the year of minting coins 2014.
On the reverse of the coin, the coat of arms of the region is depicted, in a circle there are inscriptions: Sumy region (above), founded in 1939 (below).
It is dedicated to the developed agro-industrial region, located in the north-eastern part of Left-Bank Ukraine. Sumy region is a treasure trove of nature with endless meadows, clear waters and rich forests, an edge with a glorious historical past, Cossack traditions.
