On the obverse of the coin on the background of the globe is a composition symbolizing the dynamics of air traffic, the small State Emblem of Ukraine and the inscription: 2 hryvnia, 2003 At the top right, the inscription UKRAINE is placed in a semicircle, at the bottom is the Mint logo of the National Bank of Ukraine.

On the reverse of the coin there is a composition, inside of which is the Wright brothers biplane against the background of the conditional detail of the aircraft skin, which is decorated with a schematic drawing of Leonardo da Vinci. At the top left of the semicircle is the inscription of WORLD AVIATION and the inscription on the right in two lines is 100 years old. Below to the right is a building under which the inscription is placed in a semicircle: the National Aviation University.

The dream of a man to rise into the air existed for many centuries, but practically aviation (from the Latin Avis - a bird) began to develop only in the twentieth century. The first on the plane put the internal combustion engine of the American mechanics Wright brothers. December 17, 1903 the first successful flight of their aircraft.
