Devoted to the monastery, founded in 1619 on the picturesque elevation of the right bank of the river Sula near the village of Mgar, near the town of Lubny. The Mgarsky Transfiguration Monastery has always played an important role in the spiritual life of Ukraine. An Orthodox church fraternity was founded here, and thanks to a firm position in the struggle against the expansion of the union in the Ukrainian lands, the monastery quickly gained popularity and support among the Cossacks. The decoration of the monastery complex is the Transfiguration Cathedral - one of the outstanding examples of architecture of the Ukrainian Baroque era, built at the end of the XVII century. means hetmans Ivan Samoylovich and Ivan Mazepa. The temple impresses with its stucco, which has an expressive vegetative character.
