The reverse of the coin depicts a portrait of Nikolai Vasilyevich Gogol in a cape, under which is an embroidered shirt, symbolizing the land that nurtured him. At the top of the semicircle placed the inscriptions - NICHOLAS GOGOL, below - the years of life 1809/1852.
