On the obverse of the coin in the circle of beads there is a small State Emblem of Ukraine, above which is the year of minting of the coin 2005; between the beads around and the edging of the coin are the inscriptions: UKRAINE (above), 2 grivny (below), as well as the designation of the metal, its samples - Au 999.9 (left), weight - 1.24 and the Mint logo of the National Bank of Ukraine (right ).
The reverse of the coin shows a golden plaque in the form of a relief profile figure of a Scythian rider, found in 1830 during the archaeological excavations of the Kul-Oba mound near the city of Kerch.
It is dedicated to the most important stage in the history of the development of jewelry art in the territory of Ukraine - the Scythian period (VII – II nd century BC). This distinctive jewelry art is reflected in the images of animals that adorned military equipment, religious objects, clothing and the like.
