On the obverse of the coin there is a small State Emblem of Ukraine (above), a semicircular inscription NATIONAL BANK of UKRAINE, depicts allegorical sculptures symbolizing science and art that are placed on the building of the university, face value and year of minting: 2 / hryvnia / 2010 and the Mint logo of the National Bank of Ukraine .

The reverse of the coin depicts the main building of the university, built in the last third of the XIX century. designed by architect Julian Zakharevich. Above the semicircle is the inscription LITTERIS * ET * ARTIBVS (science and art), which is located on the building itself. In a circle of inscriptions: NATIONAL UNIVERSITY `LVIV POLYTEKHNIKA`, below - 165 / YEARS.
