On July 31, 1790, Samuel Hopkins was granted the first US patent for the potash fertilizer production process. The patent was signed by President George Washington.
The coins of this series will be issued for each of the 50 states, the District of Columbia and five US territories - Puerto Rico, Guam, American Samoa, US Virgin Islands and Northern Mariana Islands. Four coins each year from 2018 to 2032, in the order in which the states ratified the US Constitution.
