The obverse of the coin depicts the small State Emblem of Ukraine surrounded by ancient and Cossack attributes: two liras, a helmet, a saber, a Kumanets and a quiver of arrows. The coin contains the inscriptions: at the top is UKRAINE and 1998, at the bottom in two lines there are 100 griven and the designation and sample of the precious metal Au 900 and the weight in purity is 15.55.
The reverse of the coin features a composition consisting of a grotesque image of the heroes of the poem against the background of the Ukrainian landscape: Aeneas and Dido are standing on both sides of the central figure of the bandurist Cossack.
