On the obverse of the coin at the top there is a small State Emblem of Ukraine, the semicircle inscription is the NATIONAL BANK OF UKRAINE, the nominal value is 100 / UAH, to the left of which is the metal designation, its sample is Au 900, the weight is 31.1, the logo of the Mint of the National Bank of Ukraine; on the right - the year of coinage 2009; in the center of the coin above, there is a fragment of an ancient structure and a signal bell, below - against the background of a meander ornament - ancient coins of Chersonesus and a lamp (5th - 6th centuries AD.).

Dedicated to the outstanding ancient sights - Chersonesus Tauride (from Greek - Taurians peninsula), a city-state on the south-west coast of Crimea, founded in 422 - 421 years BC. e., which minted its own coin. The history of the Tauric Chersonesos is divided into two periods: the ancient (from the base to the 4th century BC. N.) and the medieval (5th - 15th centuries). For two millennia, during the heyday of ancient Greece, Rome and Byzantium, Chersonese was a significant trading and cultural center on the Crimean peninsula, played a special role in the relationship between Byzantium and Kievan Rus.
