The obverse of the coin shows the coat of arms of the Zaporizhzhya region, to the left of which is the logo of the Mint of the National Bank of Ukraine, and placed: at the top a small State Emblem of Ukraine, semicircular inscription NATIONAL BANK OF UKRAINE, decorative ornament with oak leaves, at the bottom of the year of minting and coin face value - 2009 / TWO hryvnia.

On the reverse of the coin there is such a composition: in the foreground, against the background of the stylized waves of the Dnieper, a stone woman, characteristic of the steppe part of Ukraine, a cannon from the time of the Zaporizhzhya Sich, in the background, the Dnieper River, semicircle at the top inscription ZAPOROJSKAYA 1939 AREA, after which a decorative ornament with oak leaves .
