On the obverse of the coin there is a stylized image of the castle courtyard; above, on the background of a brick entrance gate, the small State Emblem of Ukraine, under which is the inscription UKRAINE; below: on the background of paving stones - face value 10, on a mirror background of the inscription: UAH and the year of minting of the coin 2019.

On the reverse of the coin are placed: above Palanok Castle, below - a stylized reflection in the water of an old castle (images from ancient engravings), in the center - a stylized image of a well, into which an ancient coin was thrown, from which water circles diverge; on the left and right of the inscription: LOCK OF PALANKS; in a circle - masonry, separated by chains.

Dedicated to the ancient historical and military architectural monument, one of the most original fortifications of the late Middle Ages in Central Europe. The castle was built in the south-west of modern Mukachevo on a mountain of volcanic origin at an altitude of 188 m above sea level and 68 m above the central part of the city. For centuries, he reliably protected the inhabitants of the city from enemies. Here trade and military strategic routes intersected, which went from the South to the North, from the West to the East, for the protection of which the castle was laid. During its existence, the fortress has been rebuilt and improved more than once.
