On the obverse of the coin, against the background of the fortification scheme of bastions and batteries of Sevastopol, there is a monument to the ships who died (right), the inscription UKRAINE above it; to the left of the image are placed: at the top a small State Emblem of Ukraine, in the middle of the inscription - 10 griven, at the bottom the year of issue - 2004, to the left in two lines the designation of the metal and its sample - Ag 925, the mass in purity - 31.1; to the right of the image of the monument is the logo of the Mint of the National Bank of Ukraine.

The reverse of the coin in the foreground shows the main technical elements of the defense - a 36-pound ship cannon and ammunition (canister, cores, bombs, ramrod), in the background is a sailing and steam vessel, a fort covering the entrance to the ship bay; there are inscriptions: at the top on a stylized marine ribbon - SEVASTOPOL, at the bottom in a semicircle - the heroic defense of 1854-1856.

Dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the heroic defense of Sevastopol, which lasted 349 days during the Crimean War - the largest of the wars that took place on Ukrainian lands in the 19th century.
