On the obverse of the coin at the top there is a small State Emblem of Ukraine, under which a stylized inscription is NATIONAL / BANK / UKRAINE, in the center is a stylized image of two birds, to the left and right of which the blacksmith's products are old Russian weapons and household items, below the inscription: 5 / griven / 2011 and the logo of the Mint of the National Bank of Ukraine.

The reverse of the coin depicts a blacksmith at work. At the top on the stylized background is the inscription KOVAL, on both sides of the central composition - inlays.
