The obverse of the coin depicts the small State Emblem of Ukraine over the old folio. Stylized inscriptions are placed in a circle: at the top of the UKRAINE, at the bottom in two lines is 100 griven. The date 1997 is the year of coinage to the left of the denomination, the right and two lines contain the designation and the sample of the precious metal Au 900 and its clean weight is 15.55. The whole composition is framed in a circle with a geometric motif.
On the reverse of the coin on the background of the arcade are placed the following images: Christ Pantocrator in a circle and titles of EC-XC (above) and compositions of manuscript miniatures: the biblical King David (right) and a fragment of his psalms (left); Spiridon the scribe (center). At the top there is a stylized inscription Kiev Psalter, at the bottom the date is 1397 - the year of its writing.
