On the obverse of the coin at the top there is a small State Emblem of Ukraine, in a circle of inscriptions: NATIONAL BANK OF UKRAINE (above), under which the year of coinage - 2017, FIVE GRYVEN (bottom), the logo of the Mint of the National Bank of Ukraine; in the center is a stylized composition symbolizing the region: the building of the Nezhin State University named after Nikolai Gogol (above), on the right is the wooden St. George's Church (Sednev), under which is a slate slab with a relief ornament from Borisoglebsky Cathedral, below is a meandering ornament (Mizinska station ), ears of corn, crane, tree and in the center - a stylized image of the gums.

On the reverse of the coin, the coat of arms of the region is depicted, in a circle there are inscriptions: Chernihiv region (above), FOUNDED IN 1932 (below).

Sectoral corrugation

The coin is dedicated to the edge, located within the Polissya and forest-steppe zones - Chernihiv region. This land has a thousand-year glorious history, preserved in numerous monuments and shrines. Chernihiv region is a region with a powerful intellectual, economic and natural potential, which has an industrial-agrarian structure of the economy. In the sectoral structure of industry in the region, food, fuel, engineering and metalworking, woodworking, pulp and paper, lightweight are priorities. The electric power, chemical and petrochemical industries play a prominent role. The region also has significant agricultural potential.
