On the obverse of the coin at the top there is a small State Emblem of Ukraine and a semicircle inscription UKRAINE; in the center on a mirror background is the large emblem of the Kiev National University of Trade and Economics, on the tape of which is the Latin motto: SCIENTIA DIFFICILIS SED FRUCTUOSA (`Science is hard but plidna`), to the right is the year of coining - 2016; below face value - FIVE griven.

The reverse of the coin shows the building of the university and the inscriptions: 70 years old (under the building) KIEV NATIONAL (in a semicircle above) TRADE ECONOMIC UNIVERSITY (below).
