On the obverse of the coin at the top there is a small State Emblem of Ukraine and a semicircle inscription NATIONAL BANK OF UKRAINE; in the center - the composition, includes elements reflecting the scientist's worldview: the globe, the silicon crystal lattice, the human figure and a flash of light behind it, which symbolizes the birth of a new life; the denomination at the bottom is FIVE UAH, on the left, the year of coinage - 2013.

The reverse depicts the coin: in the foreground on the right is a portrait of Vladimir Ivanovich Vernadsky; top left - the globe, under which the expression of the scientist `THE KINGDOM OF MY IDEAS AHEAD 'and years of life 1863/1945; below the inscription V. I. VERNADSKY.
