On the obverse of the coin there is a stylized fragment (on the left) of the sheet “The Tale of Time Lit” with its initial lines and the following are placed: in the center of the coin is the small State Emblem of Ukraine, under which there is an inscription in three lines - the NATIONAL BANK of UKRAINE, the denomination is 50 UAH, year coins minted - 2006, the designation of the metal, its samples - Au 900, the mass in purity - 15.55 and the logo of the Mint of the National Bank of Ukraine.

On the reverse of the coin there is a stylized iconographic portrait of Nestor (left), who writes his work, and the inscriptions are placed: NESTOR- / SUNWRIST (on the right vertically) and XI - XII centuries. (At the bottom).
