The obverse of the coin in the center in a circle of beads depicts the small State Emblem of Ukraine surrounded by an allegorical composition of the sun, a stylized wing, birds and stars, which embodies the human dream to reach heights in space, and circular inscriptions - UKRAINE, 2004, 5 HRIVEN.

On the reverse of the coin, an AN-140 plane is depicted and circular inscriptions are placed between the outer edge of the coin and the bead circle: Above - UKRAINE AIRPLANES; below - AN-140 and AN-140, between which the logo `AN` is placed.

Dedicated to the new generation aircraft, which is designed to carry passengers or 6 tons of cargo. Its predecessor is the AN-24 aircraft, which has been in operation for forty years. For the first time the An-140 was launched on an airline in 2002, it has high technical characteristics and is mass-produced at an aircraft factory in Kharkov.
