On the reverse of the coin, Mertsalov's palm is depicted stylized in a wreath of oak leaves - the main elements of the coat of arms of the Donetsk region, are inscribed in a circle: DONETSK REGION (above), FOUNDED IN 1932 (below).
Dedicated to the administrative-territorial unit of Ukraine, which is located in the south-east of the country. On the territory of the present Donetsk region, 500 years ago, Ukrainian Cossack settlements emerged, which subsequently formed the Kalmius palanku of the Zaporozhian High Army. Donetsk region borders in the west with Zaporizhia and Dnipropetrovsk regions, in the north-west with Kharkiv region, in the north-east and east with Lugansk regions of Ukraine and Rostov region of Russia. From the south, the region is washed by the Azov Sea. This is the land of industrial production and coal mining.
