앞면
The obverse of the coin in the center shows the small State Emblem of Ukraine. On the left and right of the coat of arms are a full-length worker with a hammer on the anvil and a peasant woman with a sickle and a sheaf; they support the baby - a symbol of the young state against the background of the crown of the tree. This three-figure composition is an adapted version of the works of graphics of George Narbut. Above - an inscription in two lines UKRAINE 1998; below - the inscription in two lines 2 hryvnia.
The reverse of the coin in the center shows the house of the Pedagogical Museum, where the Central Rada was located in 1917-1918. In front of the house on the left and on the right are the figures of two Sich hours-riflemen with rifles. Under the image there is an inscription in four lines 80 years from the date of the declaration of independence in 1918. At the top in a circle is the inscription UKRAINIAN PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC. The inscriptions are made in the font designed by G. Narbut - the author of the projects of the first Ukrainian banknotes of 1917-1920.
