On the reverse of the coin is a unique sample of astronomical technology - the meridian circle, established in 1872, the stylized starry sky and on the left in the semicircle is the inscription KIEVSKY MERIDIAN? 1845 ?.
Dedicated to one of the oldest active scientific, educational, cultural and educational institutions in Ukraine. Here, for the first time, the geographical coordinates of Kiev were precisely determined, and from 1845 to 1884, before taking the Greenwich meridian for the zero, the Kiev meridian passed.
