The obverse of the coin depicts a fragment of an engraving by I.Shchirsky `The Triumphal Standard 'in honor of the rector (1697-1702) of the Kiev-Mohyla Collegium of Prokop Kalachinsky. The foreground of the fragment depicts Athena Pallada as an allegorical symbol of science. In her hand she holds the pole of the khorugvi, which turns into the decorative baroque frame of the obverse. Along with the patroness of science - a group of students of the Kiev-Mohyla Academy. In the background is the house of this school. For a long time, the guardian, `life security guard and mentor` of the Kiev-Mohyla Collegium was exactly Peter the Grave. Against the background of a fragment in the center of the coin, an image of the small State Emblem of Ukraine is placed. In the circle of the inscription: at the top of UKRAINE, at the bottom in two lines 10 griven. Under the image of the Academy building there are inscriptions: on the left 1996 is the year of coin minting, on the right in two lines the designation and sample of the precious metal Ag 925 and its weight in purity is 15.55. The whole composition is framed by an ornament in the style of Ukrainian Baroque.
Reverse
On the reverse of the coin, a portrait of Peter the Grave is depicted, the analogue of which is a pictorial portrait of a metropolitan, made by an unknown artist of the 18th century. (It is stored in the National Museum of History of Ukraine). To the right above the rod in three lines of inscription: PETR GRAVE and 1596-1647

Dedicated to the 400th anniversary of the birth of Peter Simeonovich Mogily (1596-1647) - an outstanding church, cultural, educational and political figure of Ukraine in the first half of the 17th century, Metropolitan of Kiev and Galitsky (from 1632), one of the founders of the first higher school in Ukraine and Eastern Europe - Kyiv-Mohyla College (with time - the Academy).
