A small State Emblem of Ukraine and inscriptions: NATIONAL / BANK / UKRAINE / 2 / HRIVNY / 2012 and the logo of the Mint of the National Bank of Ukraine are placed on the obverse of the coin framed in a wreath formed from images of certain types of flora and fauna.
On the reverse of the coin is a sturgeon and inscriptions: STERLYAD freshwater (at the bottom on a matte background, imitating the sandy bottom) and ACIPENSER RUTHENUS (at the top).
Dedicated to the endangered species of the Sturgeon family - freshwater sterlet - bottom fish, which is kept singly or in small groups in deep channel parts of rivers with clean running water and which is listed in the Red Book of Ukraine. Artist: Demyanenko Vladimir Sculptor: Demyanenko Vladimir
