On the obverse of the coin at the top there is a small State Emblem of Ukraine, under which the year of minting coins 2014; inscriptions in a semicircle: NATIONAL BANK OF UKRAINE (above), FIVE CHRYVEN (below), on the right - the logo of the Mint of the National Bank of Ukraine; in the center is the gate of the Kherson fortress, one of the oldest buildings of the city of Kherson, to the right of which is the Adigigol lighthouse, designed by engineer and scientist Vladimir Shukhov, the symbol of the port and shipbuilding is a ship (above the gate), on the left are three dolphins, below are field gifts Kherson - watermelon, tomato, grapes, ears.

On the reverse of the coin, the coat of arms of the region is depicted; there are inscriptions in a circle: Kherson region (above), founded in 1944 (below).

It is dedicated to the industrial-agrarian region in the south of Ukraine, washed by the waters of the Black and Azov Seas.
