Rylsk is a city in the Kursk region of Russia. It is one of the most ancient cities in Russia. The first mention of Rylsk dates back to 1152 and is fixed in the Ipatiev chronicle in connection with the campaign of the Rostov-Suzdal Prince Yuri Dolgoruky to Chernigov: "Gyurgi ida to Novgorod to Seversky and from there ida to Rylsk."
