The laying of the first serial universal nuclear icebreaker "Siberia" of project 22220 took place on May 26, 2015. The launch is on September 22, 2017.
The main characteristics of the icebreaker "Siberia" of project 22220 are: length – 173.3 meters, width – 34 meters, side height – 15.2 meters, power – 60 MW (on shafts), speed – 22 knots (in clean water), estimated service life – 40 years, crew number – 54 people.
Currently, three universal nuclear icebreakers of project 22220 are successfully operating in the waters of the Northern Sea Route (NSR): "Arctic", "Siberia" and "Ural". These modern vessels are a determining factor in the sustainable development of navigation in high latitudes. Nuclear icebreakers of the 22220 project will contribute to the opening of year-round navigation in the eastern sector of the NSR water area
