Dedicated to the Kiev Princess, the eldest daughter of Yaroslav the Wise, during whose reign the Kiev-Russian state reached the peak of its power and who, for diplomatic purposes, concluded dynastic marriages that consolidated foreign policy alliances and raised the prestige of the state. In 1044, Elizabeth became the wife of the Norwegian king Harald Suvoroy, who during his first visit to Kiev fell in love with the princess and, having gained fame and treasures, returned for her. The second time Elizabeth Yaroslavna married the King of Denmark Sven II Estridsen after the death of Harald, who died during the battle. The main sources containing information about Elizabeth are the Icelandic royal sagas, Western chronicles and poems by Harald himself, which he composed in honor of Yaroslav's daughter.
