On the obverse of the coin are placed: above - the small State Emblem of Ukraine; in a circle of inscriptions: NATIONAL BANK OF UKRAINE (above), FIVE CHRYVENE (below); on the right - the logo of the Mint of the National Bank of Ukraine; in the center there is a composition symbolizing the region: the White Stone Building of the Sharovsky Palace of the neo-Gothic style of the late 19th century, which indicates the year of coinage 2017, on the right is a stylized tractor, on the left is one of Kharkov’s business cards, the fountain Mirror Stream, below and wheat sunflower.

On the reverse of the coin, the coat of arms of the region is depicted, the inscriptions are placed in a circle: KHARKOV REGION (above), FOUNDED IN 1932 (below).
