Kayum Nasyri (1825-1902) was a Tatar educator, encyclopedist, teacher and writer.
Kayum Nasyri devoted his life to the enlightenment and popularization of his native language, made a huge contribution to the development of national culture and the culture of the peoples living in Tatarstan. He has published more than 40 scientific papers and textbooks in the Tatar language. He laid the foundations for the study of the Tatar language: he wrote "A short Tatar grammar", a work on the grammar of the Tatar language "Enmuzaj", and published the first explanatory dictionary of the Tatar language in two volumes. The calendars he produced for many years are called the forerunner of Tatar journalism. He studied medicine, wrote books on history, geography, botany. The book about medicinal plants "Flowers and Herbs" is very famous among them. The main work of the enlightener's whole life can be called a voluminous volume of his peculiar sermons and instructions called "Fruits for interlocutors"
