On the obverse of the coin in the frame of a wreath, formed from images of certain types of flora and fauna, there is a small State Emblem of Ukraine and inscriptions in four lines: UKRAINE, 2 UAH, 2005, in addition, the Mint logo of the National Bank of Ukraine.

The reverse of the coin shows a rodent on the background of the plant (on the left) and the semicircle contains the inscriptions: SLIPAK SANDY (top) and SPALAX ARENARIUS RESHETNIK (bottom).
