On the obverse of the coin there is a stylized composition: against the background of musical strings a musical instrument is depicted - a lyre, at the top of which is the small State Emblem of Ukraine, under it there are inscriptions: UKRAINE / 2 / Hryvnia; below: logo of the Banknote and Mint of the National Bank of Ukraine and the year of coin minting - 2019.
On the reverse side of the coin there is an image of the Academy building, above which is a portrait of the composer and teacher Nikolai Lysenko and the inscription: LVIV NATIONAL MUSICAL ACADEMY NAMED AFTER N.V. LYSENKO (top in a semicircle), 175 / YEARS (bottom).
It is dedicated to one of the oldest music educational institutions in Ukraine and Europe, which, according to the results of its activities, has received national and international recognition. The emergence and existence of the Academy are closely related to the activities of Lviv music educational institutions, the history of which dates back to the 19th century. Such stars of the music scene as S. Krushelnitskaya, D. Sichinsky, A. Mishuga, V. Barvinsky, N. Skorik and many others were educated at the Academy of Music.
