The St. Petersburg Mint is the oldest Russian and one of the largest enterprises in the world for the production of commemorative coins made of precious metals, coin-shaped and medal products. The mint has the same founder as St. Petersburg: Peter the Great. The mint was established in 1724 and operates in the very center of St. Petersburg – on the territory of the Peter and Paul Fortress.
Back in the 18th century, the traditions of the Russian medal school were established at the St. Petersburg Mint, the development of which continues to this day. The first commemorative coins of the Russian Empire, the USSR and the Russian Federation were issued here. The largest modern commemorative coins are minted here: 5 kg of gold and 5 kg of silver.
Today, the St. Petersburg Mint produces commemorative and investment coins made of precious metals, state awards, as well as commemorative medals and various tokens.
