Description
Omsk was awarded the honorary title of the Russian Federation "City of Labor Valor" for the significant contribution of city residents to the achievement of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, ensuring uninterrupted production of military and civilian products at industrial enterprises, the massive labor heroism and dedication shown in this process. The Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 was a difficult test for Omsk residents. The entire burden of receiving about 200 evacuated industrial enterprises, 60 hospitals, dozens of educational institutions, theaters, museums and hundreds of thousands of refugees fell on the shoulders of the population. It was necessary to provide people with housing, food, firewood, relocated facilities - premises, building materials, electricity. A number of medical and educational premises have been transferred to industry; hospitals were also organized there. The patriotic upsurge of Omsk residents found its expression in an increase in labor productivity in factories and plants, in an overfulfillment of production programs. One of the slogans of that time was: "Every worker in the rear is an assistant to the Red Army." The work went on in the most difficult, inhuman conditions. Since there were no ready-made factory buildings, the machines were located in the open air. People, despite the harsh Siberian frost, stood for whole days at the machines, producing military products. They mastered several working specialties at once in order to be able to replace workers who had gone to the front. Production standards were met by 200-500%
