For the significant contribution of the city's residents to achieving Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, ensuring uninterrupted production of military and civilian products at industrial enterprises, while showing mass labor heroism and dedication, Nizhny Tagil was awarded the honorary title of the Russian Federation "City of Labor Valor". The city's contribution to the Victory: more than 25,000 T-34 tanks, 1.5 million tons of armor, 75 million shells, mines and bombs, 13 million tons of iron ore. 14 hospitals received 75,000 wounded, 70% of whom returned to service.
