On the obverse of the coin in the center is the small State Emblem of Ukraine, under it is the year of minting of the coin - 2006, the inscriptions are placed in a circle: NATIONAL BANK OF UKRAINE (above), TWO hryvnias (below) and the logo of the Mint of the National Bank of Ukraine.

The reverse of the coin shows the building of the university, above which its logo is placed (on the right) and the inscriptions: Kharkiv National University of Economics (on the left), YEAR OF BASIS / 1930 (below).
