On the obverse of the coin there are: at the top - the small State Emblem of Ukraine and the inscription in a semicircle NATIONAL BANK OF UKRAINE, on the left - 2 / UAH, under which the inscriptions: PHILOLOGY / LITERATURE / HISTORY (the main spheres of the scientist's activity); in the center - a stylized composition symbolizing the professional activity of Academician V. Peretz: books and a pen (against the background of an expanded book); year of minting of the coin 2020 and the logo of the Banknote-Mint of the National Bank of Ukraine (bottom left).

The reverse of the coin depicts a portrait of Vladimir Peretz, to the left of which, against a mirrored background, there is a torn-up relief composition symbolizing the unfinished work of a scientist who was repressed and died in exile; against the background of the composition there are inscriptions: VLADIMIR / PERETS and the years of his life are indicated 1870/1935.

Dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the birth of Vladimir Nikolaevich Peretz, an outstanding Ukrainian scientist, philologist, researcher and publisher of numerous monuments of ancient Ukrainian literature, historian and literary theorist, textual critic, academician of the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences. Volodymyr Peretz is one of the most active figures who contributed to the formation of a national community of Ukrainian scientists, the formation of its first professional associations and Ukrainian studies in a broad sense. Author of over 300 works on literary criticism, source studies, historiography, archeology, bibliography. He was the first to carry out a detailed description of numerous collections of ancient manuscripts, lists of old printed books, etc.
