On the obverse of the coins in an ornament based on the design of the seals of the Kiev magistrate of the 17th century, the small State Emblem of Ukraine is depicted. Inscriptions on a silver coin: UKRAINE, 10 UAH, 1999 and the designation and sample of the precious metal Ag 925 and weight in purity 31.1. Inscriptions on a nickel silver coin: UKRAINE, 5, griven, 1999.

Description
Dedicated to the 500th anniversary of the introduction of the Magdeburg Law in Kiev. Kiev enjoyed Magdeburg law from the beginning of the 15th century. One of the charters of the Grand Duke of Lithuania, Alexander, confirmed 1499 the effect of the norms of city law, according to which members of an elected self-government and court exercised administrative authority over citizens.
