On the obverse of a silver coin in the center of a circle formed from dots there is an image of a small State Emblem of Ukraine framed in branches of viburnum. Above the coat of arms is the date of one thousand nine hundred ninety-six - the year of minting of coins. In a circle of inscription coins: at the top of UKRAINE, at the bottom in three lines 1 MILLION RUBLES, denoting the nominal value of the coins. Under the branches of viburnum there is a designation and test of the precious metal Ag 925 and its weight in purity is 15.55.

On the reverse of the coin in the center is a portrait of M.S. Grushevsky, on the left in the background: the Central Rada building (now the Teacher’s House), where in 1917-1918. Worked the first President of the Ukrainian People's Republic.
