The obverse of the coin at the top against the background of theatrical backstage is the small State Emblem of Ukraine, under which are the inscriptions: UKRAINE and the year of coinage 2017 (left) in the center on a mirror background - the theater building, under which are the inscriptions: NATIONAL ACADEMIC UKRAINIAN DRAMATIC / THEATER / NAME / Mary Zankovetska and face value FIVE GRIVEN (in a semicircle below) on the right - the logo of the Mint of the National Bank of Ukraine.

The coin is dedicated to the theater, created in 1917 in Kiev with the support of the Central Rada as the Ukrainian National Theater, which brought together actors from various theater companies. The First State Theater of Ukraine toured with the financial support of the government. The performances were held in the theaters of Kiev, Chernigov, Poltava, Zhytomyr, Yekaterinoslav. The troupe included leading Ukrainian artists: M. Zankovetskaya, V. Lyubart, A. Polyanskaya, G. Marynich, B. Romanitsky, as well as talented youth. The formation of the Ukrainian theater took place against the backdrop of complex socio-political events, constant change of government, which affected its development, became the cause of reorganization, change of names (State People’s Theater, Ukrainian People’s Theater, People’s Theater) and places of residence Zaporozhye, and since the autumn of 1944 and to this day - in Lviv).
