On the obverse of the coin at the top, against the background of a stylized composition dedicated to the Kiev fortress (a fragment of an arched entrance), there is a small State Emblem of Ukraine, under which there is an inscription UKRAINE; below on a mirrored background - a key, under which the inscriptions - 5 / UAH / 2021; logo of the Banknote-Mint of the National Bank of Ukraine (to the right of the key).

The reverse of the coin depicts the composition of the Kiev Fortress (bird's-eye view), to the right of which is a diagram of the fortifications of the fortress; at the bottom of the inscription: KIEVSKAYA (on a mirrored background), KREPOST / XVIII-XIX centuries. Dedicated to one of the most stone and earth fortresses in the world, which has survived to this day - a complex of unique fortifications that have been formed over many centuries. Today the National Historical and Architectural Museum "Kiev Fortress" is a unique museum complex, many of which are associated with the history of social liberation movements in Ukraine.
