It is dedicated to the restoration of Ukrainian statehood in the newest period of history and reflects the main stages of the formation and the centuries-old development of the Ukrainian state tradition. The coin is included in a set of four commemorative coins in souvenir packaging: `Kievan Rus`,` Galician kingdom`, `Cossack state`,` 25 years of Ukraine’s independence `, dedicated to the 25th anniversary of Ukraine’s independence, each of which represents a particular stage of statehood and development of the state over the millennium.
