On the obverse of the coin on the left, on a matte background, the face value is 5 / UAH, the inscriptions are vertically UKRAINE, the year of minting of the coin 2016 and the logo of the Mint of the National Bank of Ukraine; on the right, on a mirror background, a heraldic lion is depicted - a symbol of the Galician-Volyn state, which holds a shield, on the shield is the small State Emblem of Ukraine

The reverse of the coin depicts a stylized portrait of Danylo Galitsky against the background of a flag with a lion, above the inscription in a semicircle GALITSKY KINGDOM.

Dedicated to the Galician-Volyn state, flourished during the reign of Danylo Galitsky, crowned by the Pope in 1253, and illustrates the continuity of the state tradition of the principality and the vector of the then European integration of Ukraine-Russia. The coin is included in a set of four commemorative coins in souvenir packaging: `Kievan Rus`,` Galician kingdom`, `Cossack state`,` 25 years of Ukraine’s independence `, dedicated to the 25th anniversary of Ukraine’s independence, each of which represents a particular stage of statehood and development of the state over the millennium.
