Description
For the significant contribution of the residents of the city to achieving Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, ensuring uninterrupted production of military and civilian products at industrial enterprises, while showing mass labor heroism and dedication, Saratov was awarded the honorary title of the Russian Federation "City of Labor Valor". Since the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, a large number of defense enterprises and military hospitals have been deployed in Saratov in a short time. A number of factories that stood out in ensuring the uninterrupted production of military and civilian products were awarded state awards and the passing Red Banners of the State Defense Committee. Saratov was in the range of enemy bomber aircraft, which caused serious damage to the city's enterprises, which required large-scale restoration work if necessary, unconditional fulfillment of planned tasks, often at the risk of life. Being the military-industrial, logistical, and medical center closest to Stalingrad, Saratov played an exceptional role in the victory in the Battle of Stalingrad.
