The obverse of the coin contains: at the top there is a small State Emblem of Ukraine, under which there is a stylized inscription UKRAINE; on a mirrored background, a composition symbolizing the activities of the chronicler: an inkwell with which a sheet of paper with stylized inscriptions is opened: CHRONICLES / SAMUILA / VELICHKA / 1720; below: the denomination of the coin is 10 / UAH and the year of minting of the coin is 2020.

The reverse of the coin depicts a mirrored outline of a Cossack profile (the image of Wieliczka) against a matte background, against which a fragment of the Preface from the Chronicle of Wieliczka is reproduced in Cossack cursive writing: “For a curious human character, there is nothing more suitable, affectionate reader, than reading books and learning about ancient human deeds and deeds ”and inscriptions: SAMUIL / VELICHKO (on the left against the background of the pen), the years of the chronicler's life 1670/1728 (to the right of the outline).

Dedicated to the Cossack chronicler, the author of a fundamental historical treatise, covers the events of Ukrainian history in the mid-17th - early 18th centuries. Working on a chronicle filled with national patriotism, statist views, Cossack freedom-loving ideas, Samuil Velichko (bl. 1670 - after 1728) creatively and critically used many national and foreign historical sources, gave a deep explanation of the events and facts of the history of the Cossacks.
