Description
Andrei Nikolaevich Tupolev (1888–1972) - Soviet aircraft designer, creator of the Tu-2 front-line bomber, adopted for service in 1942. The Tu-2 was created by the designer at TsKB-29 of the NKVD after being charged with espionage and arrest. After his early release in 1941, Tupolev began to refine the aircraft, which became one of the best aircraft of the Great Patriotic War and, together with the diving bomber Pe-2, formed the basis of the bomber aviation of the Soviet army. The Tu-2 had a number of serious advantages over the Pe-2, but did not succeed in becoming the main bomber of the Soviet Air Force: due to the difficult situation in which the USSR aircraft industry was located, it was possible to organize its mass production only in 1943. During this time, the design team led by Tupolev has done serious work to simplify the design and production of the aircraft, reduce its weight, increase speed and strengthen defensive weapons. As a result, the Tu-2, due to its excellent flight and combat qualities, such as high reliability, survivability, outstanding speed and range, ease of piloting, high maneuverability and stability during flight, powerful bomb and defensive weapons, has established itself as the most effective Soviet front-line bomber .
