It is dedicated to the Vydubitsky Monastery of St. Michael, founded by the son of Prince Yaroslav Vsevolod on the southern outskirts of Kiev - in the tract Vydubychi. According to the annals, the name of the tract comes from the word “vidibats” - at this place a wooden idol of the god Perun surfaced, which was dumped into the Dnieper near Starokievskaya Mountain during the baptism of Kievan Rus. The first stone church in the monastery was the Mikhailovsky Church, erected in the last quarter of the XI century. At the beginning of the XII century. the monastery becomes one of the centers of annals. The beast of the monastery belonged to the beast, Lybid, navodnitsky, Osokorkіvsky and other lands with transportation on the Dnieper and its tributary Lybed. The monastery took an active part in the political life of Kievan Rus. It was here, near the Mikhailovsky Church, according to tradition that the army was going to fight. The modern ensemble of the Vydubytsky monastery, which is an architectural monument of national importance, was formed from the end of the 17th - beginning of the 18th centuries, when several remarkable structures appeared in the monastery: one of the best masterpieces of Ukrainian baroque is St. George's Cathedral, a refectory with the Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord, the bell tower.
