On the obverse of the coin is placed: at the top is the small State Emblem of Ukraine, on the left and right of which are inscriptions in a semicircle: UKRAINE, the year of minting of the coin is 2023; the coin denomination is 5/ HRYVNIA; at the bottom is the logo of the Banknote Mint of the National Bank; in the center is the hostess during the preparation of Ukrainian borscht on the background of the oven, symbolizing the continuity of life people, warmth, comfort, well-being, family happiness, decorated with ornaments according to the Trypillian motif, embodying the age-old history and tradition of cooking borscht.
On the reverse of the coins there is a stylized composition filled with traditional Ukrainian flavor and everyday life: in the center there is a plate with borscht, as if the "stormy lake" symbolizes deep Ukrainian culture and traditions, the inscription is BORSCHT (decoration element).
The world is filled with culinary masterpieces, and the original dish that most fully conveys the taste and centuries-old culture of Ukraine is Ukrainian borscht. For Ukrainians, borscht is more than just a dish. Over time, Ukrainian borscht gained recognition all over the world, becoming a symbol of Ukrainian cuisine and the embodiment of Ukrainian tradition. Borscht is respected everywhere, and the recipe is passed down from generation to generation. In 2022, UNESCO added Ukrainian borscht to the list of intangible cultural heritage objects in need of protection, which is designed to spread knowledge about the cultural and gastronomic traditions of Ukraine around the world.
